What is it?

The natural lens in your eye becomes cloudy as you age. This cloudy change is termed a cataract. This may blur your vision in that eye.

How may it be treated?

If this affects your quality of vision, the cataractous lens may be removed surgically. In its place, a prosthetic intra-ocular lens is placed. There are a variety of intra-ocular lenses available, and the optical options can be discussed with Mr Chandra. The operation is usually undertaken under local anaesthetic, although general anaesthetic is available. The surgery is a day case operation, and you return home that evening.
